The Green Hall Recital
11th September 2022, 16:00 - 17:00
The Green Hall, Cefn Cribwr Community Centre, Bridgend, CF32 0AW
The aim of this recital was initially to close the season with our summer repertoire. However, upon hearing the devastating news of the late Queen's death, without consideration we chose to use the opportunity to honour Her Majesty and her dedication to both her position and the country.
The concert began with a reflective performance of the National Anthem, where the audience were given the opportunity to stand and join us. We decided to continue with our summer programme because we believed that the repertoire chosen reflected not only the joy but also the personal sacrifice she gave for the country.
A professional violinist, Nicola Benedetti, shared her thoughts on social media of her meeting with Her Majesty the Queen:
‘During this meeting, she told me of her profound belief in collective music making, in collective action, having all devices and distractions banished from the room with everyone present and committed to the same endeavour’
As a result we decided to continue with this concert to keep sharing her belief that music brings us all together and gives us time to connect with one another.
We were very grateful to everyone who attended the concert in such difficult times.
We were once again very fortunate to have a guest pianist with us, Helen Turbervill. We are very thankful to her for dedicating so much of her time for rehearsals to make this performance possible. Check out the About Us section on the programme below to learn more about Helen!
Lastly, we would like to thank people without whom this concert wouldn't have been possible:
The Green Hall Community Centre for providing the venue
Katarzyna Niklas and Aneta Niklas for concert management
